The known SCROOMS instrument path begins with Leo’s free Wooden Lute, moves through three Grove shop upgrades, and expands into region purchases and quest rewards. The official Instrumentalist badge confirms that owning 15 instruments is a real progression goal, while community directories supply the larger working catalog below.
Values can change and some sources disagree, so this page emphasizes where a tool comes from and what job it serves. Open the live card before spending Chimes.
Songkeeper’s Grove instruments
Wooden Lute
Get it: accept Leo’s gift in the opening quest.
Cost: free starter.
Reported role: first catch; +2% Precision, Resonance I.
Tamer’s Guitar
Get it: opening merchant purchase.
Reported cost: 100 Chimes.
Reported role: tutorial upgrade; +6% Precision and +5% Luck on current launch cards.
Adventurer’s Tambourine
Get it: Grove shop.
Reported cost: 750 Chimes.
Reported role: early tuning/value choice with +15% Tune Speed.
Violin of Pilgrimage
Get it: Grove shop.
Reported cost: 4,500 Chimes.
Reported role: Luck-focused Grove purchase; +40% Luck on the commonly cited card.
Floral Flute
Get it: Elanor’s questline.
Reported role: quest tool with Resonance II; verify the current reward card.
Forest Spirit’s Lyre
Get it: Fenna’s quest chain and offering.
Reported role: Resonance III and a high printed Luck value; exact card is community reported.
Finish the tutorial-required Guitar step before treating the rest of the shop as mandatory. The Lute is sufficient to learn the loop; the Guitar satisfies the opening upgrade objective; the Tambourine and Violin are choices for a specific budget or stat goal.
Bluestone Caverns instruments
Prospector’s Lute
Reported cost: 5,000 Chimes.
Reported card: Resonance IV with balanced Precision, Luck, and a small Tune Speed bonus.
Blackwood Fiddle
Reported cost: 9,500 Chimes.
Reported card: Resonance IV. Sources disagree on one printed stat, so inspect before purchase.
Deepchord
Get it: complete Pell’s related route to open access, then purchase.
Reported cost: 16,000 Chimes.
Identity: officially supported by the Runestriker badge.
Do not assume completing the Deepchord quest places it in your inventory for free. Current guides report that the route unlocks the altar or purchase access, followed by the Chimes cost. Check the result screen and shop prompt.
Sorin’s Respite instruments
Current directories list Lotus Hymn, Stillwater Flute, and Sorin’s Last Verse. Lotus Hymn and Stillwater Flute are reported as purchases or quest-access purchases, while Sorin’s Last Verse is a named reward supported by the official The Last Verse badge.
The commonly reported cards make different tradeoffs: Lotus Hymn favors Tune Speed, while Stillwater Flute shows a very large Luck line paired with negative Tune Speed. Treat those values as community reported and confirm the current card. A tool with more Luck can still feel worse for rapid tuning if its speed tradeoff is real in your build.
Sanctum Magus and Tall Trees instruments
Community directories list Soaring Tone, Runed Horn, and Magus’ Requiem in Sanctum Magus. The later quest identity is supported by The Magus’ Heir badge, but sources disagree on whether the final instrument name is Magus’ Requiem or Archmage’s Requiem. Use the reward popup and Equipment Bag spelling in your session.
Tall Trees directories list The Red Wind, Autumn’s Grace, Heartwood Drum, Crooked Chime, and Ballad of Three Reigns. The official Friend of the Tribe badge confirms obtaining Ballad of Three Reigns. Prices and cards for the broader group need live verification.
Utility items that do not replace catch gear
The Ocarina plays songs such as Homeward Melody and Song of Passage. Unlock it through Halden’s five-statue quest. It is a world-interaction tool with its own interface, not a frequency-reaching catch instrument.
Songtreads are Core movement gear won from Shax’s first race. Equip them to gain the speed needed for the Bluestone entrance jump. A later Echo Step reward is reported to add a second airborne jump; the first Songtreads reward alone is not the same upgrade.
Keeping these entries separate prevents a misleading “instrument count.” The game can place the Ocarina alongside musical equipment, but its player job is different from the Lute, Guitar, Tambourine, and later catch tools.
Choose your next purchase
For the first session, buy and equip the Guitar requested by the tutorial. Choose the Tambourine when the current card’s Tune Speed and modest cost solve a real problem. Choose the Violin when you can spare 4,500 Chimes and want its printed Luck emphasis. In Bluestone, compare Resonance IV options with the target Index band before buying both.
For quest tools, read whether the quest awards the item or only opens a purchase. Keep a Chimes reserve for the final prompt. If the route requires a held creature, protect it from Sell Inventory.
Verify a card before committing
- Read the exact instrument name and region.
- Confirm price or quest source.
- Compare Precision, Harmony, Tension, Luck, Tune Speed, and Resonance.
- Identify the one field that addresses your current failure.
- Check remaining Chimes against active quest payments.
- Purchase or claim, then press Equip in the bag.
- Test on a familiar species before a valuable hunt.
The stats guide explains this diagnosis in detail, while the tier list ranks only the four well-documented Grove options rather than pretending every later quest tool has comparable data.
