Bluestone Caverns Guide

Reach Bluestone Caverns with Songtreads, clear the entrance gap, begin Marina’s objective, and organize the region’s Index hunt.

Bluestone Caverns is the first well-documented region after Songkeeper’s Grove. To enter, complete Halden’s progression, win Shax’s first race, equip Songtreads, and use their running speed to clear the wide gap in Bluestone Approach. After landing, speak with Marina and read the current introduction before selling any local catch.

The official Quarryhand badge confirms a complete Bluestone Caverns Index goal. Current community Index readings show 15 card positions, although some public lists still leave one identity unresolved. Use the live Index rather than filling that gap with a guess.

Unlock the entrance route

You need the Ocarina chain completed before Halden’s later progression can send you to Shax. Current guides report level 25 for the return condition, but the live Quest Log should settle any future change. Beat Quick on Your Feet, speak with Shax again, claim Songtreads, and equip them.

Follow the Grove exit toward colder blue-gray terrain. The long gap is the practical entrance check. Back up enough to reach full speed, run in a straight line, and jump at the edge. The first Songtreads reward is sufficient in current walkthroughs; Echo Step is a later upgrade rather than a prerequisite.

Make the jump consistently

Check for the active boot effect before the run. A race teleport or reset can leave the owned item unequipped. Keep the camera aligned with the landing surface and avoid turning while airborne. Jumping early removes the most valuable part of the run-up.

If you miss, do not mash another jump from a worse angle. Return to a flat starting point, equip Songtreads again, and repeat with a longer straight run. The Songtreads guide has the full unlock and troubleshooting route.

Meet Marina first

Current guides place Marina near the entrance after landing. Speak with her before clearing inventory. Current launch routes report an introductory request for a Fungstone. Find and catch the requested creature, keep it in inventory, select it if the hand-in interface requires that, and return.

If the dialogue does not advance, verify the exact base name, confirm the catch is still held, and finish every prompt. Index discovery alone does not replace a physical quest turn-in.

Open the Bluestone Index

Confirm that the Bluestone Caverns area page appears after entry. Select silhouettes to read any available rarity and frequency clues, then compare the target band with your equipped instrument. Movement equipment gets you into the cave; it does not expand instrument reach.

Community readings currently describe 15 base positions and publish many names, but at least one slot has been unresolved across some lists. The Scrooms list preserves that uncertainty and does not assign an unsupported name.

Area completion can also require tone progress. If every visible base name appears discovered but Quarryhand has not unlocked, inspect individual cards for Harmonic or Resonant slots.

Build a safe cavern route

Use the entrance and Marina as initial landmarks. Explore one branch at a time and return to the same anchor until the terrain is familiar. Keep inventory space for the introduction target and any first discovery. Sell ordinary duplicates only after checking the Quest Log.

Choose catches your current instrument can handle. A new area may show higher or different frequency bands, but repeated impossible attempts are not a useful Chimes route. Record the target, return with a suitable instrument, and use reachable local catches for practice.

Open the Index after each unfamiliar result. Note the base name, prefix, rarity, and frequency separately. A rare tier does not reveal an exact spawn rate, and a high frequency does not mean the species is rare.

Common Bluestone problems

The entrance quest does not update. Land fully inside, move away from the boundary, and approach Marina. Return to the preceding quest NPC if Beyond the Grove never began.

Songtreads do not feel faster. Open the equipment tile, select them again, and look for the active visual or musical effect before running.

Marina will not accept the catch. Check that it is a Fungstone if that is what your current objective says, keep it in inventory, select it for hand-in, and finish the dialogue.

The Bluestone Index tab is hidden. Walk farther into the cavern and complete the entrance conversation. Reopen the Index after the area label changes.

Quarryhand remains locked. Inspect missing silhouettes and tone slots. Do not use a community list to invent the identity of an unresolved card.

When to return to the Grove

Go back when your instrument cannot cover several Bluestone targets, when an earlier quest conversation is incomplete, or when you need a dependable duplicate-catching loop for Chimes. Opening Bluestone is progress, but it does not make the starting region obsolete.

Use the instrument stats guide before buying for a specific frequency problem and the Chimes guide to fund that purchase without selling the current quest target.

Check date and evidence

The Quarryhand badge is official. The Songtreads crossing, Marina position, Fungstone introduction, and current Index count are community observations checked October 24, 2026. The live Quest Log, Index, and equipment card take priority if an update changes the route or requirement.
